Park National Bank donates building to Butler Area Merchants Association

October 22, 2020

BUTLER, Ohio – Park National Bank announced plans to donate its Butler office building (85 North Main Street) to the Butler Area Merchants Association. The building, which closed as a banking office on September 30, will be entrusted to the Butler Area Merchants Association to be used in ways that support local businesses and the best interest of the community. The parking lot will also serve as a central meeting space for local events such as the annual Butler Apple Fest, a site for car shows, and other community gatherings. The Butler Area Merchants Association is an all-volunteer group of residents from the Village of Butler and Worthington Township who are focused on helping the local business community.

“The Butler Area Merchants Association is an important part of the community and we fully support the great work they’re doing and planning. While our facility there no longer suits our business needs in Butler, we believe it can be a resource for positive community support in a new way, and we’re very pleased to donate the property,” Park National Bank Division President Chris Hiner said. According to Hiner, the bank plans to keep its ATM at the Butler location and upgrade it in 2021, helping to serve local customers in concert with the bank’s nearby offices (like Bellville), digital banking services, and 24/7 Customer Care Center. The upgraded ATM will include new features like enhanced deposit options, customizable customer preferences and more.

“Keeping this property, which is located in the center of town, in active use is very important and critical for the Butler area,” Butler Area Merchants Association President Wes Dingus said. “Park National Bank has continually shown they care about Butler, and we’re grateful they’ve chosen to donate the building to our mission. We all look forward to using it in a variety of ways in the future.”
